| Q. | How long will it take to complete a 30 continuing education course? |
| A. | You could finish your continuing education course in a month or less. It all depends on how much time you can devote to the course each week. You set the pace! |
| Q. | Where would I take my final proctored examination? |
| A. | Presently we are holding final examinations in the Weymouth Library. If you’re chief engineer, a member of management of your company, a teacher or other responsible person is willing to proctor your examination we can arrange to have them give your final examination. We will send them instructions. |
| Q. | How long after I finish my course will I take my final examination? |
| A. | Examinations are normally scheduled within two weeks of the school receiving all of your course assignments. |
| Q. | How far in advance of my license renewal date should I sign up for the license renewal course? |
| A. | We recommend you start taking your course at least five months prior to your license renewal date. This will allow you plenty of time to have your thirty-hour certificate in hand prior to you renewal date. Better to be one month early than one day late. |
| Q. | Will the final examination be difficult? |
| A. | Students faithfully completing all of their assignments have indicated, on their surveys, that the final examination was "fairly easy" and took an average of one hour to complete. No student has failed the final examination to date. Final examination marks have varied from 71% to 100% with an average around 88%. Questions are a combination of True or False, multiple choice and missing word answers. |
| Q. | Is there a payment plan for this course? |
| A. | Yes there is a two-payment plan as stated on the ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT. VISA and MasterCard are accepted for full payment. |
| Q. | Is this course fully approved by the Commissioner of Public Safety to offer continuing education credits for license renewals? |
| A. | This course is fully approved by the Commissioner of Public Safety and the Department of Education. |
| Q. | What happens if I fail my final examination? |
| A. | You will be given one month to review and a new final examination will be scheduled. |
| Q. | What courses are available to receive my thirty-hour continuing education certificate? |
| A. | Chapter 146 Laws (4 hours) and Feedwater (2 hours) are two mandatory courses. Twenty four hours can be made up from the following elective courses: Steam Fundamentals 6 hours, Combustion & Fuels 6 hours, Aux. Steam Plant Equipment 6 hours, Steam Condensers 6 hours, Electric Generators 6 hours.
